The next step beyond a well-built Macro-SIM is material that reconfigures itself around the learner in front of it.
That shift is already arriving: material that adapts to the learner — adaptive pathways, diagnostic entry points, AI tutors that re-explain on request, analytics that tell you which chunk fails. None of it works without well-made Nano-SIMs underneath. Adaptive delivery of bad material just personalises the confusion.
The whole module in five sentences
- Content is not a SIM: a SIM teaches in your absence.
- Outcomes, tutorial voice, active responding, feedback and self-pacing are non-negotiable at every size.
- A Nano-SIM is one outcome, one sitting: Hook → Teach → Try → Check.
- A Micro-SIM is a unit — chunks plus the connective tissue that joins them.
- A Macro-SIM is assembled upwards over semesters, never built in one.
